I originally joined deviantART as a photographer - to learn, to enjoy, to indulge in the arts, which were simply one of my interests.

Now, however, the arts (and photography in particular) are ways for me to express myself and achieve my dreams. deviantART is one of my tools.

I wish I still had the time to browse through hundreds of wonderful artworks; perhaps it is a good thing that I am busy and active again after a few months of indolence.

Perhaps, too, I am shamelessly promoting myself. But it is different; the Nabeel who last posted a journal entry was a different person in a different world. I am simply trying to establish my new identity now, and part of that means rejoining this community and re-embracing the photographer within me.

Next step: getting a working camera again!

(Yes, my old Powershot A85 has more or less collapsed now.)

Sorry everyone.

I've been away for quite some time, even though I said I'd be back. I did return after my finals, and nowadays I'm really out of it.

Deviantart is wonderful, but so are so many other things in life.

I'm also not home nowadays, so coming online is a bit of an issue. Not connected 24/7 like I was back in Karachi. That should be solved in two weeks, though.

Maybe if I had my camera I would be doing something here.

But I, um, dropped it about a month ago and then the accumulated wear and tear (the lens shutter had stopped working some time ago) and everything just caught up. So I gave it to the Canon center in Karachi for repairs, they did the job in about two weeks, double the time they had promised, AND they charge me 4000 rupees. I'll get the camera when I return and I really need to see what they charged all that money for!
does changing the circuits of a camera really cost that much?

anyway.

I might be back soon.

I really don't know.

Life is pretty good nowadays.

Revolves around books, movies, phone calls,and...the clock spins rather quickly.

I have a lot of material that I might like to edit but...I dunno...just not in the mood. I got hold of books on photography that I was going to read and they're still in the cupboard back home.

And a month ago, most of my concentration was towards photography.

I'll get back into the groove, don't you worry.

Consider this a break :)

take care everyone, and keep smiling!

Okay,so I disappeared. And came back. And disappeared again.

Just so much university work,it's not even funny. The last two weeks of the semester are underway and final exams are in a week...add three major assignments (a presentation and two research reports),then put in all the quizzes that the teachers remember to conduct at the last minute...and just for fun you include the extra classes we're having because Karachi was closed for 3 days following the Nishtar Park tragedy.

I leave home around 8 every day, return 12 hours later and so exhausted that all I want to do is shower, eat, and then sleep.

Oh,and I haven't started studying yet.

And I must do extremely well in my finals if I want to even maintain my current GPA.

Welcome to My Life.

Give me two more weeks. I'll be back!

Cheers,

Nabeel :)

Haven't really been very active on deviantart for nearly a week....not uploading many pictures and not really browsing and commenting...but I've been kind of busy....and this week has simply passed by in a blur....

And this will continue,at least for another four or five days, because I volunteered to work at the World Social Forum held this and the next week at Karachi (yay!) and it takes a lot of time...uni gets off at 2:30 and I leave immediately to the venue where I'm working in the Program Committee...making sure that the 450+ events taking place over 5 days are going on as scheduled and that most of the 35,000+ people are relatively happy (although most of them are activists!).

So yeah it's a really GREAT experience...and an excellent photojournalistic opportunity at the same time, there's no dearth of interesting subjects and I have a feeling I'm going to have a ball in the next three days :D

visit the website and see what it's all about: www.wsf2006karachi.org

and to anyone who's reading this who might be in Karachi-this is something you should not miss! A really great experience, people, you're only depriving yourself of missing out on lots of things if you don't come...!

anyway then..
take care n khudahafiz

Listening: Tum se Milke (OST Parinda)
Watching: Rang De Basanti (at least, i will do so tonight=P)

Two days of freedom! 9th and 10th Muharram...for the Shias in mourning.....for me its a break, a much needed break. Not that I was in full workaholic mode or anything but...for some reason I'm incredibly relieved to have two days off.

:eyes:Spent most of the day on dA, browsing and commenting. I never fail to be amazed at the variety, depth, quality, and creativity of the work here! But its giving me a boost...I'm trying to improve now...reading several tutorials and trying to find out as much as possible about the art of photography as I can.

Got the deviantSkin extension for Firefox several days ago, and MAN am i loving it! makes the art experience much more fun:D

Also acquired Photoshop last night (for the first time!!) and I'm looking forward to seeing how I can use it to improve my work. I'm not into photomanipulation per se, but just basic corrections like contrast/cropping and I really want to watermark my stuff from now on...prevent theft!

Also got CorelDraw and the Macromedia suite....

there's so much to learn!:work:
